Chapter-1 includes some backgroundof evolution of computer and its organization. It gives a brief description of the microprocessor, storage and I/O devices, software and operating systems.
Chapter-2 includes basic introduction to computer networks, communication components, modulation, network devices, topologies and models.
Chapter-3 includes problem identification and analysis. Need to develop software, flowcharts, decision table, pseudo code andalgorithm.
Chapter-4 and 5 includes introduction to C, execution process of program, concepts of variable and constants and data types.
Chapter-6 discusses working with arrays. It includes introduction to type of arrays, declaration, initialization and accessing arrays.
Chapter-7 includes functions in C, purpose and structure of function, arguments passing and concept of recursion.
Chapter-8 discusses working with Strings. Declaration, looping, passing of strings to function and string handling.
Chapter-9 includes storage classes, function and types of classes.
Chapter-10 includes declaration of pointers, pointer arithmetic, pointer to structure, function and array.
Chapter 11 discusses definition of structure and union, initialization, nested structure, array of structure, pointers to structure and concept of union.
Chapter-12 concept of memory allocation, functions and creating dynamic objects.
Chapter 13 is devoted to file management in C. It includes files I/O functions for formatted and unformatted files.

About the Author

Prof. (Dr.) Brajesh Kochar is Ph.D. from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He has done Certificate course in Project Management from IIT Delhi, M. Tech (IT)from Punjabi University Patiala, PGDBA from Pondicherry University and B.E(C.S) from M.D.U Rohtak. He has worked with various reputed academic institutions across India, Dr Kochar has over 25 years of work experience including industrial and academia. He is guiding six Ph.D. scholars and is actively involved in various research projects. He has worked on research project in association with Mewat Development Society and DST Government of India on “Impact of Soil nutrition on human health using geo spatial technologies”. He has more than 50 national and international publications to his credit. He has keen interest in the field of Distributed Systems.
Prof. (Dr.) Deepali Kamthania has more than 19 years of experience in IT industry and academia. She is presently working as Professor with School of Information Technology, VIPS, Delhi. She has received B.Sc. (Hons.) and MCA degrees from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh and Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD). Her research interests include machine learning and hybrid PV systems. She has published over 75 research papers in reputed national and international conferences and journals including SCI, Web of Science and Scopus along with various magazine articles. She has attended and organized many workshops, guest lectures and seminars. She has delivered many technical talks and chaired sessions at various academic forums. She is also serving as member / reviewer in various editorial boards of refereed journals. She is guiding many Ph.D. scholars and is actively involved in various research projects.
She is recipient of various Academic Excellence Awards. Best Paper Award in 2019 and 2020, Best Teacher Award in 2018 and 2019, Active Participation Award (Woman) in 2016-17 from Computer Society of India. Institution of Engineering Technology Awards in 2013 and 2014 for significant contribution to the IT field. Dr. Kamthania is a life time member of IEEE, CSI and ISTE.
